Want to remember the best parts of your Universal Orlando vacation? Capturing those big, belly-laugh moments, like your kiddo’s first roller coaster face or velociraptor jump-scares, document these core memories so they last a lifetime.
But is the My Universal Photos package actually worth it? Let’s break it down, so you can decide if it’s a smart splurge for your next epic adventure.
What Is My Universal Photos, Anyway?

My Universal Photos is an in-park photo service, capturing moments at Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, Volcano Bay, and the brand-new Epic Universe (yep, now open!). Photographers and ride cameras snap these moments, and you get unlimited digital downloads, plus one free 4×6 and 5×7 print. Photos are then accessible at MyUniversalPhotos.com.
You’ll get a card with a QR code to scan at each photo location. Easy peasy.
Pricing (2025, plus tax):
1-Day Package: $95.84
3-Day Package: $117.14 (must be used on consecutive days)
5-Day Package: $138.44 (also consecutive days)
Annual Pass: $159.99 (usually discounted for Annual Passholders)
Volcano Bay 1-Day: $39.99
Single photo (print + digital): $26
So if you grab 4+ photos, you’ve basically broken even. And let’s be honest, you will want more than four.
What We Love About It

1. The Ride Photos Are Gold
Whether it’s that VelociCoaster “Oh, $#@!” scream or that “why did I sit in front?!” soaked moment on Jurassic Park River Adventure, ride pics capture pure emotion. I get the kids’ original and real reaction to the rides, and then we get to make up creative and funny poses once we know where the cameras are!
2. You’re Actually in the Photo
Parents, how often are you in the vacation pics? This is your ticket to proving you were there.
Granted, I don’t always love the way I look in photos, but these are typically at least better than the ones my husband takes of me!

3. Selfie Stations + Themed Backgrounds
From Halloween setups to holiday magic in the Dark Room (near the front of Universal Studios), there are fun, themed backdrops and selfie spots like the DeLorean or running from escaped dinos…The raptor encounter is my favorite and makes for some great laughs!
4. Epic Universe Is Bringing the Heat
New park = more photographers. With the grand opening of the newest park, we are noticing the attention to the common complaint that people feel there have not been enough photographers. We definitely have seen more around the portals!
Are There Downsides?

1. Fewer Photographers Than Other Familiar Parks
If you’re used to certain other parks with photographers around every corner, manage expectations. Universal has notably fewer roaming photographers. You will see them mainly at entrances, select character spots, and selfie stations.
2. The App Isn’t as Smooth
You’ll use the Amazing Pictures app or the website, not the Universal app, to view photos. It’s not terrible, but it’s not a seamless integration. You also could miss out on some photos if you forget to scan your QR.
3. Consecutive Days Only
3-day and 5-day packages must be used in a row, which isn’t ideal if you’re doing non-park days in between. You may want to consider the annual option depending on the total number of days you will be there, and if you’ll be returning within a year.
4. How It Stacks Up to Disney’s Memory Maker
Memory Maker gives you 30 days of photos for $185–$199 and includes extras like animated “Magic Shots.” Universal’s pass is cheaper, but you’ll need to be more proactive about finding photo-ops.
So… Is It Worth It?

YES, if you:
- Plan to visit for multiple days (especially back-to-back).
- Want ride photos + professional shots at iconic spots.
- Visit often and can make use of the annual pass.
- Want everyone in the picture without juggling your phone.
Maybe not, if you:
- Just want a couple of photos (à la carte might be cheaper).
- Are expecting Disney-style photo coverage.
- Are only doing one day and skipping many rides or characters.
Tips to Get the Most Out of It

- Wear the lanyard: Photographers are more likely to approach you.
- Know the hotspots: Look for photographers at entrances, Raptor Encounter, the Dark Room, and at character meet & greets. Check out green screen options like at Shutterbutton’s in the Wizarding World Diagon Alley (my favorite).
- Activate early: Unlinked photos may vanish by day’s end.
- Use that card! Scan it at every chance.
- Glitch? Contact Guest Services as soon as you notice, they’re a huge help!
- Pre-purchase: It’s usually $20–$30 cheaper than buying in the parks. We can add this to your package so you can make payments.
