Halloween Horror Nights 34: What YOU need to Know!

Welcome to Halloween Horror Nights 34! The themes this year have been some of my favorites!

Get ready to scream, because Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) 2025 at Universal Orlando Resort is set to be the most terrifying yet (I’m so excited)! My husband, son, and I will be in attendance in September. Will we see you in the fog?

Celebrating its 34th year, this world-renowned Halloween event is pulling out all the stops with spine-chilling haunted houses, sinister scare zones, and immersive entertainment. Running select nights from August 29 through November 2, 2025 (longer than ever), at Universal Studios Florida, HHN 34 promises a heart-pounding experience for my fellow spooky season lovers.

Scares abound when these worlds of darkness come to life. The details are incredible.

A special one-night-only Premium Scream Night on August 28 kicks things off early with exclusive perks. Here’s everything you need to know to survive the fog, based on the latest details from Universal Orlando (and maybe a little speculation, since we don’t have all the announcements yet, as of this writing)

Event Overview: A Night of Nightmares

Enter the fog, but don’t go alone. The scares begin as soon as you enter.

Halloween Horror Nights is my favorite Halloween event, transforming Universal Studios Florida into a playground of horror after dark. From August 29 to November 2, 2025, guests can brave 10 all-new haunted houses, navigate five sinister scare zones, enjoy outrageous live entertainment, taste the frightful flavors of the season, and experience some of the park’s most thrilling rides.

The event runs on select nights, typically Wednesday through Sunday, with extended hours until 1:00 AM on weekdays and 2:00 AM on weekends. A separately ticketed event, HHN requires a dedicated ticket. Your daytime Universal Studios admission won’t get you in. (Although, I do recommend having a daytime ticket or a scream early ticket to make the most of your night). Admission to the park for those with HHN tickets only begins at 5pm.

This year’s event starts earlier than ever, giving you more nights to face your fears. The theme for 2025 carries a “late-1800s emo aesthetic,” blending gothic vibes with modern horror sensibilities, according to Universal’s creative team. Expect immersive environments, from fog-filled streets to buzzing chainsaws, that engage all your senses. Whether you’re dodging scareactors or indulging in themed food and merchandise, HHN 34 is designed to haunt you long after you leave.

Haunted Houses: Enter at Your Own Risk

5 of the 10 houses are IPs that are popular and familiar, the other 5 are original ideas created especially for HHN.

The heart of HHN lies in its 10 haunted houses, a mix of iconic horror franchises and original creations from Universal’s twisted minds. This year’s houses are bringing the scares BIG TIME promising a diverse range of scares:

  • Fallout: Step into the post-apocalyptic world of the hit video game and TV series. Set in 2296, you’ll navigate the desolate Wasteland, encounter raiders, and face The Ghoul, a formidable bounty hunter. Expect T-60 power armor and mutated creatures straight out of the vaults. I am not very familiar with the game, but excited to see how they make this world come to life.
  • Jason Universe: Horror icon Jason Voorhees returns in a house inspired by the Friday the 13th franchise. Flee through eerie woods and his sinister shack at the infamous summer camp where his legend began. This one is a classic, and I am excited for this one.
  • El Artista: A Spanish Haunting: In 19th-century Spain, a tortured artist’s creations come to life in a remote manor, blending surreal horror with deadly consequences. This original concept promises a visually striking and unsettling experience.
  • Hatchet and Chains: Demon Bounty Hunters: Expanding on last year’s Slaughter Sinema 2, this Wild West-themed house unleashes demons from an old well, with bounty hunters battling underworld terrors.
  • Dolls: Let’s Play Dead: Shrink to doll size and face burnt, melded, and stitched toys crafted by a twisted little girl. This creepy Victorian dollhouse is a nightmare for anyone wary of possessed toys. Not sure how I feel about this one, honestly…
  • Grave of the Flesh: Enter a grim underworld where flesh-eating ghouls hunt you for eternity. This original house takes you from your funeral to a terrifying graveyard realm with no escape.
  • Gálkn: Monsters of the North: In a remote northern village, a wicked being unleashes a horde of icy, horned, and wolfish monsters. This Viking-inspired original house culminates in a battle to escape the belly of a giant beast. This one should be very cool, excited to see how they bring the GIANT beast to life!
  • Terrifier: Art the Clown is showing you his horrific highlight reel. Walk through all his best kill scenes as he revels in delight at his own handiwork. This house also presents you with a choice! Will you choose the “dry path” or the “Blood Bath”??
  • Five Nights at Freddy’s: Enter, if you dare, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria where the animatronics really come alive! A unique and immersive take on a house, you will truly feel like you are on night guard duty at this freaky fun hous
  • The Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks: WWE themed house featuring one of the creepier personas in the wrestling world. A world from the mind of Bray Wyatt is brought to life in this house. This house also represents a beautiful tribute to his contributions to the world of wrestling.

Scare Zones, Shows, and More

Mel’s Drive in is transformed for the event. Mel’s Die-in emerges from the fog.

Beyond the haunted houses, HHN 34 features five scare zones (open-air areas where scareactors roam free, delivering jump scares and chilling vibes).

  • Cat Lady of Crooked Lane: The crooked path leads trick-or-treaters to a mysterious home. This old lady prefers her company to be of a feline variety, so she has a way to transform all those who dare come to her door.
  • Origins of Horror: The ruins of the conservatory are overrun with vines, gargoyles, overy life-like statues, and giant crows. Here you can also see tributes to each of the IP houses.
  • Masquerade: Dance with Death: You’re invited to the ball! Just don’t get bit. Beautiful dresses, masks, and dancing in the candlelight – but look closer. Vampires feast
  • Mutations: Toxic Twenties: Buzzcon is at it again. We’re in the roaring, radioactive, twenties and a truck with the toxic Buzzcon rat poison has collided with a mob getaway vehicle. Chaos and mutating horrors abound, and prohibition is the least of our concerns.
  • Club Horror: Dance the night away with the DJ pumping terrifying tunes! A street night club has popped up for guys and ghouls alike!
Walk through scare zones throughout the park to stay immersed in the stories of horror between houses.

Live entertainment adds to the chaos with outrageous shows filled with diabolical surprises. This year, the Fuel Girls return for Nightmare Fuel: Circus of Decay! My absolute favorite live performance, you can expect illusion and amazing acrobatics, including aerial stunts and LOTS of flames. This one is definitely on the more risque side, so definitely for a mature adult audience. This year, the Lagoon show also returns! Haunt-O-Phonic: A Ghoulish Journey combines spectral music with iconic horror scenes and neon lights for a hauntingly beautiful experience.

The park’s major rides, like Men in Black, Transformers, and Revenge of the Mummy, remain open, offering a thrilling escape between scares. Harry Potter fans will also want to check out Diagon Alley where Deatheaters roam and recruit for the Dark Lord. Will you join? Or duel?

Themed Food and Merchandise

No HHN experience is complete without indulging in themed food and drinks. 17 locations throughout the park will serve bites and sips inspired by the haunted houses, with past examples including Jason-inspired S’Mores fresh from camp Crystal Lake. The 2025 menus are yet to be revealed, but expect creative, horror-themed treats.

The themed food is a MUST. Iconic and unique dishes really are part of the immersion.

The iconic Tribute Store, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, will offer a highly themed shopping experience with exclusive merchandise. Due to refurbishments around the park, this year’s Tribute Store is found at the exit of the Revenge of the Mummy attraction. Icons of the event can also be found on merchandise at Universal Studios Florida’s Five and Dime and Islands of Adventure’s All Hallows Eve Boutique.

Although a bit smaller than previous years, the Tribute Store is your go-to spot for all your HHN merch!

Tickets and Add-Ons: Plan Your Night (and day)

HHN is a separately ticketed event, and tickets are on sale now. Prices vary by date, starting at $80.88 for early September nights, but can rise to $144 at the gate, so book early through Universal Orlando Preferred Travel Partners (like me) to save $$. Multi-night Frequent Fear Tickets go on sale July 10, 2025, offering great value for multiple visits.

Enhance your experience with these add-ons:

  • Premium Scream Night (August 28): Starting at $82.99, this one-night event offers shorter wait times, staggered haunted house entry, all-you-care-to-enjoy food and non-alcoholic drinks, and complimentary parking.
  • Express Pass: Starting at $139.99, skip the regular lines once at each haunted house and select rides (separate from daytime express). If you cannot swing an RIP tour, I definitely recommend Express to ensure you can experience your favorites. Keep in m
  • Behind-the-Screams: Unmasking the Horror Tour: Starting at $84.99, this daytime VIP tour offers a lights-on look at 3 or 6 houses, with exclusive photo ops and a commemorative pin. I highly recommend this one, especially for those who may be nervous about the event itself, or who are nerdy about the details (like me). Get to experience the houses without the jump scares.
  • Scream Early Ticket: Add Universal Studios Florida admission after 3:00 PM (starting at $55) on your HHN event day. This allows you to find a spot near your favorite house and hop in line before the bigger crowds get there. (If you have a daytime ticket and are already in the park, you do not need this, but may be a good option if you don’t want to use a park ticket on your HHN Day.
  • RIP Tour: My personal FAVORITE way to do HHN! Includes dinner, front of the line access to all 10 houses, exclusive access to special bars, priority seating at a show, Express Passes for attractions and more! Not to mention an AMAZING guide who will let you in on behind the scenes secrets and Easter Eggs to look for in the houses. 10/10 recommend.
RIP Tours are the BEST way to ensure you get to see it all during HHN.

Pro tip: Event nights can sell out, especially closer to Halloween, so secure tickets early to avoid missing out.

Tips for Surviving HHN 2025

  • Arrive Early: Gates open at 6:30 PM, but Scream Early or Express Pass holders can maximize their time.
  • Plan Your Houses: With 10 houses, prioritize must-see experiences like Fallout or Jason Universe to avoid long queues.
  • Dress Appropriately: Costumes and masks are not allowed, and the event occurs rain or shine, so check the weather.
  • Stay Fueled: Grab themed food to keep your energy up for the long night. Lines can be long, so plan breaks strategically.
  • Age Warning: HHN is intense and not recommended for children under 13.
