Three Tips for Dining at Disney with Food Allergies

Dining at Walt Disney World with food allergies or dietary restrictions is not only possible! Plus- the options they have won’t make you feel like you’re missing out on the amazing food at the most Magical Place on Earth! I have Celiac Disease and my 12-year-old son is allergic to cashews and pistachios, so we are very cautious about what and where we eat. With careful planning, clear communication, and a sense of adventure, you too can embark on a culinary journey like no other at Walt Disney World.

Mickey shaped everything for everyone! This was at Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary. It was family style when we went and they were great about bringing out separate dishes for me and my son.

I have three easy tips to help you navigate dining at Disney with food allergies, ensuring a safe, satisfying, and worry-free experience. Whether you’re planning your first visit or are a seasoned Disney-goer, these tips will help you make the most of your magical trip.

Mickey waffles are a must for us! These are at Steakhouse 71 at the Contemporary, my son’s were marked by the chefs so the server knew it was allergen free. They also make gluten free Mickey waffles.

1. Plan Ahead: Before your visit, familiarize yourself with Disney’s online resources, including menus and allergen guides. Research dining options that cater to your specific dietary needs and make advance reservations whenever possible. Every restaurant has the menu posted and at the bottom they have the allergy friendly listings to let you know what meals they can make allergen free.

2. Communicate Clearly: Upon arrival at each restaurant, the server would always ask us about dietary restrictions. Be specific about your needs and any allergies, and don’t hesitate to ask questions about ingredients and preparation methods. Disney’s culinary team is well trained in accommodating various dietary requirements and will go above and beyond to ensure your safety and satisfaction. Meals come out marked so the server knows that it has been prepared correctly.

3. Stay Informed: Throughout your visit, stay informed about your dining options and any updates or changes to menus. Keep an eye out for allergy-friendly options and don’t be afraid to request modifications to dishes to better suit your needs. By staying proactive and informed, you can enjoy a worry-free dining experience at Walt Disney World.

This was the amazing dessert at Cinderella’s Royal Table (inside the Castle at Magic Kingdom!) It’s called The Clock Strikes Twelve, my son had it and said it was amazing!

My son and I have had numerous meals at all four parks and Disney Springs, and we know that we are in good hands. We also have never felt like we have missed out on a delicious meal at Disney World because of our allergies.
