Visiting Disney World in the Spring

Epcot in the springtime is a great time with lower crowds and the Flower and Garden Festival.

Disney World is a magical place all year ‘round, but there are some special benefits to visiting in the springtime! The weather is beautiful, the crowds are typically lower, and the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is in bloom.

My family loves to visit in the Spring more than any other time of year! Read on to find out why Spring is such a perfect time to visit Disney World, and why you should consider it for your next Disney vacation.

Bring your ponchos for those quick moving storms.

Don’t even worry about the rain, the weather is just perfect!

When you think of Florida weather, you’re probably thinking of the unbearable heat and lots of rain. But I have found that spring really brings out the best of Orlando weather! From March to May, you’ll get blue skies and 80 degree weather on most days. The mild heat is great for scheduling in some pool time or enjoying the water parks!

Will it rain? Of course! It usually comes in short bursts and is uniquely impossible to predict. I don’t worry about it, though! I just come prepared with the expectation that it will probably rain during my trip. Bring some ponchos and keep the fun going, or be aware of the indoor areas so you can duck out of the rain and stay dry! My family has always had at least one rainy day on our trips, and it’s never bothered us! In fact, we like to take advantage of it when most guests are running out of the park and we head right for the rides.

Enjoy the lower crowds before the summer rush rolls in!

There are several weeks in the Spring where you can enjoy Disney World with light crowds and shorter lines. I know that seems far fetched – these days, it seems Disney World is always packed to the brim! If lower crowds is important to you, be sure to plan your dates around Spring Breaks, which is typically around Easter.

Any day at Magic Kingdom is better than any normal day!

My family likes to visit in May. In May, you’ll find the Spring Break crowds have subsided and the parks are half the capacity of just weeks prior. While my oldest is only in first grade and my youngest in preschool, it’s no biggie to take my kids out of school for a week’s vacation. And most families will probably agree that if there is any good time to do so – it’s toward the end of the school year. (If you have older kids, just be sure to plan around finals and end-of-the-year events.)

Don’t miss out on the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival!

I LOVE Epcot for so many reasons, but most of all, I love the festivals! The EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is included with your park admission and is one of the most popular of the seasonal events in EPCOT.

This festival is all about celebrating the beauty of Spring, with millions of beautiful blooming flowers and foliage on display. Throughout the park you’ll find Disney character topiaries that are incredible! My kids love finding their favorites and taking pictures with them!

If you’re a “foodie”, EPCOT is the place to be in the Spring. You’ll enjoy food and drinks with fresh flavors inspired by global cuisines in the 20+ outdoor kitchens set up around World Showcase. My family has repeatedly enjoyed the Citrus Blossom kitchen, which serves up a refreshing orange-lemon smoothie in an adorable Orange Bird sipper cup. The Orange Bird is the un-official mascot of this festival, and if you love him as much as I do, you’ll love all the cute merchandise that’s exclusive to the Spring!

Epcot has so much to do for all ages.

Another great reason to head to EPCOT in the Spring is the Garden Rocks Concert with performances on select days from some big names! You’ll be able to watch a free show right in the middle of EPCOT at the America Gardens Theatre!*
