The Three Questions You Must Answer Before Booking Your 2025 Disneyland Hotel

From thrilling rides to immersive experiences, Disney’s California Adventure is the perfect destination for unforgettable family fun at Disneyland Resort. Be sure to add it to your 2025 vacation plans!

Planning a Disneyland trip for 2025?

One of the most important decisions you’ll need to make is where to stay, and it’s not as straightforward as it might seem.

With three Disney resorts and numerous good neighbor hotels to choose from, it’s essential to consider your family’s specific needs.

Do you need extra rooms for space? Will the kids want a splash pad or pool? Is having a kitchen a priority? And, of course, how important is proximity to the parks—do you want to be within walking distance, or are you comfortable taking a shuttle?

First, let’s talk about the two main types of accommodations: the on-site Disney resorts and the off-site Good Neighbor hotels.

Stay at Disney’s Grand Californian for your 2025 Disneyland vacation! This spectacular resort offers luxury and a direct entrance to Disney’s California Adventure.

On-Site Experience: Is it really worth the cost?

Disneyland offers three on-site resorts, each with its own unique charm: Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, the Disneyland Hotel, and Pixar Place Hotel. Staying at any of these properties keeps you close to the magic, offering immersive Disney theming, early park access, and the convenience of being just steps away from the parks. For families who prioritize ease and the full Disney experience, these resorts are worth considering.

The favorite on-site resort for many is Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, and for good reason. This luxurious resort provides a stunning experience, with direct access to California Adventure. No need for shuttles or long walks—guests can walk straight into the park. Plus, the early park entry perk is a game changer, letting you ride popular attractions like Radiator Springs Racers with minimal wait before the crowds arrive.

Off-Site Experience: A little extra walk, a lot of extra cash!

For families wanting to stay close to Disneyland without breaking the bank, off-site hotels like Candy Cane Inn and Cambria Hotel & Suites offer fantastic alternatives. There are so many Good Neighbor hotels to choose from, but these are two of my favorites!

At Candy Cane Inn, you’re just a 10-minute walk from the park entrances, and its charming, classic vibe makes it feel like a hidden gem. Guests enjoy a free breakfast, a shuttle to the parks, and a relaxing pool area perfect for cooling off after a long day. It’s the ideal blend of comfort and convenience, without the high price tag of staying on Disney property.

For larger families or those needing more space, Cambria Hotel & Suites is a bit farther but offers spacious family suites and a massive 30,000-square-foot waterpark. It’s perfect for families seeking extra room and fun beyond the parks. With modern amenities like an outdoor hot tub, a putting green, and even an outdoor movie wall, Cambria is a great option for those willing to take a short shuttle ride or drive their own car to save some serious cash.

By staying at one of these off-site hotels, families can put the money saved toward special park experiences, like character dining or unique souvenirs, without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Both hotels offer a fantastic balance of affordability and accessibility, making them great choices for a magical Disneyland vacation.

‘it’s a small world’ is a quintessential part of any Disneyland vacation. Its timeless charm and immersive details make it a standout, especially during the holiday overlay.

The Three Questions You Must Answer

So, how do you decide where to stay? Here are a few key things to consider:

1. How much time will you actually spend at the hotel? If you’re just using the hotel to sleep at night, an off-site spot might be your best bet. But if you want the full Disney experience even when you’re not in the parks, staying on-site could be worth the splurge.

2. What’s your budget? On-site Disney resorts can easily cost 2-3 times more than nearby off-site options. Could that extra money be better spent on something more memorable, like a character dining experience or those souvenirs you’ve had your eye on?

3. What’s your family’s energy level? If your kids (or you!) will need a midday break, being closer to the parks can make all the difference. Walking back to a nearby Disney resort is much easier than dealing with shuttles or long walks at the end of a tiring day.

Both options have their perks. Whether your family prioritizes convenience and Disney theming or is all about maximizing your budget, there’s a perfect spot for you. Having stayed both on-site and off-site, I can honestly say you’ll have a magical trip either way. Just think about what’s most important for your family and plan accordingly!
