Have you ever arrived at your Disney resort with all the best intentions of keeping your room organized throughout your trip, only to have the whole place looking like a tornado hit within hours? Yeah, I’ve been there, too!
Throughout my family’s last few Disney vacations, I’ve adopted some simple hacks that have totally changed the game for keeping our room in order (which is especially necessary for a family of 5 like mine who still fits in a standard room).
With these simple tricks, you can maximize space, minimize chaos, and spend more time making magic than searching for sunscreen! I’m always sharing my latest tricks on my Instagram page – @theorganizeddisneymom. Or if you’d like to enlist the help of someone who can help you keep all the aspects of your trip organized, be sure to reach out to me here, and we can get started!
1. The Collapsible Storage Cube

This is one of the most inexpensive ways to keep things organized and maximize counter space at your resort. Bring 1 or 2 collapsible storage cubes with you. They’re the kind that fold to be completely flat, so they don’t take up precious space in your suitcase. And then, once you get to your resort, you can use them on the dresser top to keep everything organized. We use them for groceries since I always order food and snacks to save on overall dining expenses.
You can use cubes like these to store anything, though – miscellaneous park day essentials like ponchos and visors/hats, crocs and flip flops for the pool, even souvenirs as you bring them home from the parks and need a place to stash them before packing up to go home. The possibilities are endless, but the way these cubes help you maximize space is truly life-saving!
Keep an eye out for these cubes because you can find them anywhere – Target, Amazon, Ikea, and I even picked some up at The Dollar Tree during back-to-school season for $1 each. They’ve become my designated “Disney cubes,” and I never travel without them.

2. The Shoe Organizer
An area that is often underutilized when it comes to organizing your resort room is the closet. I love to maximize our storage space here so that bulky things can be out of sight / out of mind for our vacation.
One of my favorite ways to do this is by utilizing a hanging shoe organizer. Now, of course, you can store shoes in here, but I find it a great space to keep miscellaneous little items that might otherwise end up lost in your resort room. I use this inexpensive one that folds completely flat so again, it doesn’t take up precious space in my suitcase. Also, if it ever breaks or we buy too many souvenirs and our suitcase is overweight, I have no issue leaving it behind.
We like to use ours for hats and visors, sunscreen, headbands, Mickey ears, and flip flops or Crocs that we wear to the pool. It could also be a great spot to keep reusable water bottles when you’re not in the parks.

3. The Hanging Cosmetic Case
It’s no secret that the sinks and countertops in the bathrooms at Disney resorts are small. When you’ve got an entire family’s worth of toiletries to store, they become even smaller! That’s why I love consolidating all of our items into one cosmetic case that we hang on the back of the bathroom door.
This hanging cosmetic case can actually fit a lot of stuff in it. We use it for everything from skincare to toothbrushes, hair accessories, and basic first aid items. It folds up so that it doesn’t utilize too much space in your suitcase, and then when you get to your resort, you can unzip it and hang it for easy access throughout your trip.
We often bring travel-size toiletries with us on our trip, so as we finish them, I just throw them out, so the cosmetic case is usually a lot less full on the return trip home, which means you’ll have more suitcase space for souvenirs!
*Bonus hack: heavy-duty suction cup hooks

Okay, I’m throwing in a bonus tip for you, and I’m sure you’re probably wondering what in the world you would do with heavy-duty suction cup hooks. I’m here to share with you that they are a game-changer for increasing hanging/drying space in your bathroom!
Most Disney bathrooms have one hook on the back of the door (but as you recall, we are already using that for the hanging cosmetic case). So where will you hang your towels and swimsuits to dry? The answer is that you can use these suction cup hooks to do the trick.
Now, some bathrooms do have the wire line you can pull across the shower to hang things on, but even so, when you’re a family of 5 with towels and swimsuits, that is usually not enough. Therefore, I love putting these hooks on the shower wall and using them to dry things.
A little organization can go a long way in making your Disney resort room feel more comfortable. By setting yourself up with simple storage solutions, you’ll spend less time dealing with clutter and more time enjoying the magic. So go ahead—embrace the organization and let the memory-making begin!
