Make Your Birthday Memorable and Magical at Disney World

My birthday button!! They make for a great (and free!) souvenir too!

I just turned 21 a few weeks ago… and there was nowhere else I would celebrate my birthday than at Disney! I convinced SEVEN friends, my mom, my sister, and my sister’s friend to come to Disney with me for my birthday…

Y’all, it was absolutely MAGICAL!

The day was one of my favorite trips to date, and YOU can have a magical birthday at Disney too! If you don’t already have a travel agent, I can help you plan the perfect birthday trip to Disney!

Anyways, on to my tips for celebrating your birthday in Magic Kingdom.

#1: DO Wear Birthday Apparel!

I was scared that it would draw too much attention to myself, and it did… but not in a bad way. The sweet “Happy birthday!” comments from little kids in line just melted my heart! And though you should never expect it, sometimes Cast Members will surprise you just because it’s your birthday. I even had a Cast Member give me a free 50th Anniversary Coke, and our waitress at Liberty Tree Tavern sang “Happy Birthday”… backwards! Actually, it was surprisingly fun to wear all the birthday apparel… it really makes you feel special on your special day!

#2: DO Have a Sit-Down Birthday Meal!

Because of varying budgets within our group, we didn’t make any dining reservations. However, once we got to the park, the magic kicked in… and so did the Florida heat! We were all ready for an indoor meal, and then a last-minute reservation at Liberty Tree Tavern popped up!

Liberty Tree Tavern is DELICIOUS and moderately priced!

The meal was delicious, and it was really nice to have some concentrated time with all my friends. If you are looking for a moderately-priced sit-down meal, Liberty Tree Tavern might be right for you! And if you want help booking your dining, I can do that as a travel agent with Smart Moms Travel. #3: DO Schedule Time for Shopping!

During the hottest part of the day, we weren’t sweating. Why? Because we were shopping inside! After all, it is your birthday… Don’t be afraid to walk through the Emporium with that Starbucks in your hand! 😉

I definitely got myself a thing or two from the stores on Main Street! That Haunted Mansion Spirit Jersey was calling my name, and I was not afraid to sing “Happy Birthday, me!” as I purchased it.

Starbucks is just better on Main Street!

#4: DO Utilize Genie+!

Because of Genie+, we did not wait in a single line ALL DAY! We used Genie+ all day long, and everyone loved the service. Not waiting in line definitely makes you feel like a VIP Disney guest!

#5: DON’T Set Unrealistic Expectations

If you really don’t want your Disney birthday to be ruined, then be ready to go with the flow! No matter how much effort you put into planning your trip… some things won’t go according to plan. It might rain (it is Florida, after all), or a friend might want to go see a character when you want to ride Space Mountain, or you might get overheated and have to sit for a while… Let it all be fun. Just enjoy the time!

  • My name is Erica Herrera. My first visit to Disney World was when I was two years old, and I keep going back! My favorite park right now is Hollywood Studios. Since I am an Annual Passholder, I get to go to the parks multiple times per year! I love to visit Disney and help other people have magical vacations in the parks. One bucket list wish I have is to visit all the Disney parks around the world!
