Okay… Let’s dive in!
The Smart Moms Travel Kids Planner opens with a letter to the grown ups. We know not every child is traveling with “Mom” and/or “Dad” so we were very intentional with our wording throughout the planner to refer to the adults as “grown ups” so every child feels seen as they plan their magical vacation!
Next you’ll find a checklist of what the kids can do during the months leading up to the trip, including ideas for extra ways they can make money to increase their souvenir budget while they’re on vacation and ideas for what type of souvenir they may want to purchase. On our last visit to Walt Disney World, my son knew he wanted to build a customized droid. He planned his spending money around the experience. It was so helpful for him to know exactly what he wanted to spend his money on so he wasn’t tempted with other things he didn’t care as much about!

After the preplanning is done, you’ll find all you need to know about Genie+! We break down the details of Genie+ and Lightning Lanes in a way that is age appropriate and easy to understand. Then your kids will find a list (organized by park) of all of the rides included with Genie+ and the ones we suggest trying to get first.

This planner also details every ride and attraction in Walt Disney World! Each page explains what the ride is and what kids might want to know (you could get wet, it is loud, it gets dark etc.), lists the average wait time, and asks questions to help kids decide if they want to ride this ride. We even included rankings from children of varying ages. My kids loved this part the most! They enjoyed seeing what other kids think of the different rides and attractions. After reading about each ride, the guide instructs kids to add the ride to their “master list” to make it easy for them to keep up with the things they want to do the most!

The planner also helps kids understand how to plan for their park days and gives ideas for what to do on their non-park days! It ends with a packing list to help kids understand what they need to pack and how many pairs of each item they’ll need to pack depending on the number of nights they’ll be gone. My kids love packing for themselves because it makes them feel grown up and responsible. And, I love getting one more thing off of my plate! I check everything before it actually goes in the suitcase, but handing them a list and giving them the responsibility of getting their clothes together helps all of us feel more accomplished!
The beautiful thing about the Smart Moms Travel Kids Planner is that it helps grow your kids’ excitement for the trip without requiring anything else from you! We don’t want to add more to your to-do list, so this guide was created with the idea that your kids can go through it on their own and then you can talk through what they’ve come up with together! My kids love using this planner, and I know yours will too! If you’re considering a Walt Disney World vacation (or somewhere else!) and want to get one of these guides for free, along with countless other free resources and travel help, fill out this short form to get started!
