4 Ways to Keep Your Kids Safe at Disney World

Planning a trip to Disney World? You’re in for a magical adventure! But, even with all of the excitement, it’s important to keep safety at the top of everyone’s mind. Between the crowds, heat, and countless attractions, it’s easy for little ones to wander off, get overwhelmed, or overheated. Here are five easy tips to keep your kids safe while enjoying all the magic!

1. Take A Daily Photo

Start the day by taking a photo of your kiddos together! I don’t know about you but with all the Lightning Lanes, dining reservations, and character locations I have to keep up with in the parks, the last thing I’m keeping up with is what my kids are wearing that day! I love having a picture of what my kids are wearing so I can provide it to cast members and security team members if needed.

With all the Nike, Under Armor, and College Football t-shirts in our house, I can’t remember who is wearing what each day! A photo a day means you’ll never worry about struggling to describe what your child is wearing.

2. Teach Them How to Find Help

On our travel day to Disney we always go over with our kids what to do if they get lost or separated from us. We tell them that if they get lost to look for a cast member or a mommy pushing a stroller. We tell them Cast Members have oval name tags and point out the name tags once we arrive at Disney. We remind them that cast members are there to help and they should approach a cast member or another mommy immediately if they feel lost. Cast members are trained to assist lost children and will reunite them with you as quickly as possible, and moms are obviously superheroes who will find a way to help.

Disney cast members are amazing and are often one of the highlights of our trips! They really do care about making each day feel magical for our kids!

Bonus Tip: Designate a “safe spot” like the park’s entrance or an easily recognizable landmark. Teach your kids to head there if they ever feel lost.

3. Write Your Contact Information on Them

Once your kids are old enough to memorize your phone numbers and first and last names, this one becomes unnecessary, but when your kids are too young to memorize your phone number getting separated from them is a huge fear! When my kids were younger I wrote my phone number on the bottom of their shoe. That way, if we got separated all they had to do was find a cast member or another mom and show them the bottom of their shoe.

4. Use Air Tags

We recently started using Air Tags on our trips to Disney. I originally bought the sole inserts for their shoes from Amazon, but they were uncomfortable and I was worried it would hurt their feet for a day full of walking. Instead, we used the keychain attachment and looped it on their shoelaces.

Now that they’ve gotten a little older their Air Tags live on their pin lanyards. Because 1) they are typically either wearing their pins or have tossed them in the stroller (making it MUCH easier to find the stroller when Disney moves it) and 2) we’ve lost enough pins or have left the lanyard lying somewhere to know that they need the extra help keeping up with them.  HA! There are lots of different tracking type options out there that can help provide peace of mind for parents while in busy places!

Popular Options: Other popular tracking devices like the Jiobit or AngelSense are discreet and designed to keep kids safe in busy environments.
